The destination, considered

The island, beyond the beach.

A resort can anchor a Mauritius holiday without defining every day. Decide how much time you want beside the water, then leave room to explore the island at a pace that suits you.

Your personal concierge helps you compare the setting, the accommodation and the practical details, then handles your booking from start to finish.

The destination, properly understood

Mauritius,
in greater detail.

Mauritius combines lagoons and resort service with mountains, food, gardens and a culturally rich island beyond the beach.

Where to stay

Four distinct ways
to experience it.

Livelier coast and easy exploration

North & Grand Baie

The north offers beaches, restaurants, shopping and boat access to northern islets, with a more animated atmosphere around Grand Baie.

Long lagoons and refined resorts

East coast

The east is known for extensive resort settings and access towards Île aux Cerfs; it can be breezier during the Mauritian winter.

Sunsets, Le Morne and nature

West & southwest

The west brings calmer sunset-facing evenings, while the southwest gives access to Le Morne, Chamarel and Black River Gorges.

Landscape and local texture

South & interior

The less-developed south, tea country, waterfalls and the central plateau reward travellers who want more than a coastal circuit.

What to do

Experiences with
real sense of place.

Signature experience

Walk with purpose

A guide in Black River Gorges or around Le Morne adds natural and cultural context.

Signature experience

Taste the island

Mauritian cooking reflects Indian, African, Chinese and European influences; markets and food tours reveal that mix.

Signature experience

Take to the lagoon responsibly

Sailing, snorkelling and paddle sports should follow local conditions and reef-protection guidance.

Signature experience

Visit Port Louis and Pamplemousses

The capital’s market and museums pair naturally with the botanical garden at Pamplemousses.

When to go

Use the season,
not just the date.

May–October

The cooler, generally drier Mauritian winter suits active days; the east and south can feel windier.

November–April

Warmer and more humid summer conditions, with tropical rainfall and cyclone risk within the southwest Indian Ocean season.

September–November

Often a useful shoulder period before the wettest summer conditions, though weather remains variable.

All year

Coast orientation matters: temperature, wind and lagoon conditions are not identical around the island.

Plan it well

Details that change the holiday.

  1. Choose the coast by month and preferred atmosphere, not by hotel alone.
  2. Road journeys can be slow at busy times; group touring days geographically.
  3. During cyclone season, use flexible arrangements and monitor official local and UK travel advice.

Destination information checked against Mauritius Ministry of Tourism. Entry rules, safety advice and local conditions can change: review the current UK government travel advice before booking and departure.

When to travel

Two distinct seasons

Mauritius has a warmer summer from November to April and a cooler winter from May to October. January to March brings a higher chance of rain. Coast and inland conditions differ, so the hotel’s location matters alongside the month.

A journey idea to discuss

A beach base with days to explore

Begin with a resort that suits your party, then discuss a small number of excursions. A relaxed itinerary gives you room to enjoy the hotel as well as the island beyond it.

An idea for your enquiry, not a fixed itinerary. Your proposal will confirm the arrangements and availability.

Before you choose

The details
that matter.

Identify how you want to divide time between the beach, activities and exploring. Discuss children’s ages, room configuration and meal plans early. The right coast and property depend on your dates as well as the style of hotel you prefer.

What should I include in my enquiry?

Your preferred dates, departure airport, number of adults and children, approximate budget and the kind of accommodation you enjoy. Mention any must-haves so they guide the shortlist.

Can you suggest somewhere beyond this collection?

Yes, use the enquiry to tell us what you have in mind. The collection is a starting point; we can discuss other possibilities and establish what is available through the relevant providers.
